The Power of Words!
Text: Proverbs 18:21
The Bible speaks of the tongue as a small yet powerful instrument that when used can bring life or death. How do we use our tongues? Psychologists speak to the issue of self-fulfilling prophecies that is, the fact that many of the things we utter has the power to come to pass. The fact is our thoughts become words and our words become actions. We therefore need to be very careful what comes out of our mouths. If we live each day saying to our selves “Nothing good will ever happen to me” or “I will not be successful” or “I will fail” – chances are, it will happen exactly that way.
God does not want us to live unproductive, unsuccessful lives. He created us worthwhile, with potential and purpose. If you are feeling discouraged today as if nothing is happening for you, raise up my brother, my sister and replace those “I can’t(s) and I will never(s) with “through Christ I can”, “I will”. Speak favour over your life. When you say something often enough it will become a part of you.
Words are like seeds so I challenge you today to sow good seeds into your life. If you want good results then sow good seeds, speak positive words into your life. Stop using your tongue to defeat yourself; speak life and not death.
THOUGH FOR TODAY:
What you say will guide what you do, so speak life today.
